Install primary ground supports

Course Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to install primary ground support in civil construction. This includes setting out points of support, installing sets and rings, sheet piling and panel and box sets, as well as performing maintenance on primary ground support through inspections, fault identification and implementing adjustments.

It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under minimal supervision to undertake a broad range of tasks in varied work contexts, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.

To apply, you must provide original or certified copies of documents and agree to verification processes. Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) transcript can also be used for recognition.

We also offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for those who have relevant prior knowledge or experience through formal, non-formal, or informal learning. To apply for RPL, you must:

  • Demonstrate relevant prior learning and experience
  • Provide proof of formal or non-formal training, or informal learning
  • Submit authenticated documents or work samples
  • Show current skills in an interview or observation
