Course Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to install temporary and permanent rock anchors in civil construction. This includes setting up anchor holes, installing permanent anchor bolts finished with mesh and shotcrete, installing temporary anchor bolts, and stressing, locking and sealing anchors.

It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under minimal supervision to undertake a broad range of tasks in varied work contexts, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.

Health & Safety Advisory Service offers credit transfer for statements of attainment and qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) in Australia. To apply, you must provide original or certified copies of documents and agree to verification processes. Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) transcript can also be used for recognition.

We also offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for those who have relevant prior knowledge or experience through formal, non-formal, or informal learning. To apply for RPL, you must:

  • Demonstrate relevant prior learning and experience
  • Provide proof of formal or non-formal training, or informal learning
  • Submit authenticated documents or work samples
  • Show current skills in an interview or observation
