At Health & Safety Advisory Service, we are committed to advancing workplace health and safety (WHS) standards through innovative and practical training programs.

This nationally accredited unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge needed to  operate and maintain explosive power tools (EPTs) in the construction and demolition industries.

Course Overview

This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively operate explosive power tools (EPTs) using explosive charges in a magazine to fasten materials or fix fasteners to bases.

The unit supports the application of knowledge to safely and effectively use a range of indirect action explosive powered fastening tools used in the construction industry.

It applies to workers who work with EPTs in the construction industry. It involves working under supervision in a team environment.

No licensing, legislative, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Entry Requirements

Prerequisite Units: 

  • CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry.

Other Requirements:  Participants must pass a colour blindness test prior to completing this course.

Health & Safety Advisory Service offers credit transfer for statements of attainment and qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) in Australia. To apply, you must provide original or certified copies of documents and agree to verification processes. Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) transcript can also be used for recognition.

We also offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for those who have relevant prior knowledge or experience through formal, non-formal, or informal learning. To apply for RPL, you must:

  • Demonstrate relevant prior learning and experience
  • Provide proof of formal or non-formal training, or informal learning
  • Submit authenticated documents or work samples
  • Show current skills in an interview or observation
