• RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes (Core)

  This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to apply risk management processes in the mining, drilling and civil infrastructure industry.

  This unit applies to individuals who contribute to applying risk management processes as part of their responsibilities. This could be an employer, line manager, supervisor, safety representative or employee. This unit applies to those who carry out or assist in carrying out risk assessment in the workplace.

• PUAFIR210 Prevent injury (Elective)

  This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to identify and avoid workplace hazards and risks, to maintain personal safety and to report identified issues to supervisors and team members.

  It is designed as an introduction to safe work practices and is specifically relevant to a workplace requiring personnel to be involved in incidents, prescribed burns and/or operational aspects of emergency management. It includes identifying, implementing and monitoring effectiveness of workplace hazards and risk control procedures.

  The unit applies to personnel who work as a member of a team. Work at this level is undertaken under direct supervision and instruction.

  The fire sector is those sections of government departments, statutory authorities or organisations that have responsibility under jurisdictional arrangements for the delivery of firefighting and fire management services.

• HLTAID009 Provide cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (Elective)

  This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

  This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

  Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (Prerequisite for PUASAR022) (Elective)

  This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

  The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

  Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

• HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid (Core)

• PMAWHS211 Prepare equipment for emergency response (Elective)

  This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to undertake minor maintenance and other preparation of equipment for use in emergency situations.

  This unit of competency applies to operators who are required to apply procedures to inspect and assemble equipment, undertake minor servicing, ensure equipment is ready and available for use, identify problems and take action.

  Minor servicing includes one or more of:

  • inspections
  • lubrication
  • pressure checks
  • refilling
  • other maintenance/servicing.

  This unit of competency applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team or group and working in liaison with other shift team members and the control room operator, as appropriate.

  This unit of competency applies to all items of equipment that are required for emergency response and all work environments and sectors within the industry.

• RIIERR201E Conduct fire team operations (Elective)

  This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct fire team operations, including fighting and containing fires.

  This unit applies to those working in site-based roles in the coal mining, metalliferous mining, drilling, extractive, and civil infrastructure environments.

• RIIERR302E Respond to local emergencies and incidents (Elective)

  This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to respond to a range of local emergencies and incidents. It includes implementing response plans, monitoring the situation, taking necessary precautionary measures, and supporting formal relief.

  This unit applies to those working in site-based roles in the coal mining, metalliferous mining, drilling, extractive, and civil infrastructure environments.

• RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights (Elective)

  This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries.

  It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.

• PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation (Prerequisite for PUASAE032) (Elective)

  Typically, personnel performing these roles have completed induction or recruitment training and are commencing work as a member of an operational team. They will work under supervision in a team but may be responsible for completing singular tasks relating to a rescue.

  It is applicable to personnel from the emergency services, volunteer organisations and/or associated industries.

• PUASAR032 Undertake vertical rescue

  This unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to undertake vertical rescues in a range of emergency situations in natural and manmade environments. It includes a range of vertical rescue situations, preparing and responding to rescue situations, assessing rescue scenes, establishing vertical rescue systems and performing in and terminating rescues.

  The unit is applicable to personnel from the emergency services, volunteer organisations and associated industries.
